About Aurora

Aurora v2

In one of my favorite episodes of Parks & Recreation, Donna says to Leslie, “Knope, you’re a softie. But on the inside, you’re a straight up boss.” Then she turns to April Ludgate and says, “April, you’re the exact opposite.”

April Ludgate is my spirit animal.

I am a singer/songwriter with an engineering degree. I am a corporate businesswoman who teaches Sunday school to seven-year-old girls. I am an independent, alpha female who longs for a strong, confident man to someday be the head of my household. I am a chocolate covered marshmallow: hard outer shell; soft, gooey inside.

I am simultaneously the most starry-eyed of idealists and the bitterest of cynics. Come with me on my journey to find purpose in pain and meaning in the mundane.Β Come with me as I journey through the season of singleness, cheerfully serving in anonymity and keeping the light of hope alive in the wilderness of waiting.

Come with me as I become… Authentically Aurora. ❀

  1. I agree. I miss the innocence of my childhood. And I think it takes a lot of strength and faith to wait before marriage. You are a classy godly lady and you’re strength will never flail as long as you continue to seek the guidance of the Lord.

  2. Hi Aurora,

Thank you for taking time to read my blog. I write because I love to touch people’s hearts with my words and it looks like you do the same. Best of luck in your search for the right man. He is out there somewhere! πŸ™‚

  3. I thought you would be interested in this since you don’t follow me!

I lost a bet with my friend and she made me watch the first episode of “The Bachelor”. I then lost another bet with her during the show and now I have to watch the whole season and write a post about it. Thought you would be interested in this coming from an INTJ guy thoughts. Of course, as always, I have good advice for people. https://whatiliketodobysteve.wordpress.com/2015/01/17/i-lost-a-bet-with-my-friend-so-the-bachelor-preview-week-1/ I would be interested in your thoughts!

  4. Hi Aurora (love your name)! First of all, really love your blog…at least the posts that I’ve read so far. Your blog is kind of like an all 3-in-one kind of blog for me. It seems like you’re quite acquainted with the Myers-Briggs Personality Test and your personality, INTJ quite well, which doesn’t surprise me. I am also an INTJ Christian and your posts definitely resonate with me. I hope you don’t mind if I look through your posts and maybe comment or like on a couple (maybe more) of them. You got another follower! Good work!

If you want, I actually started a blog (just have the About Page and one post done but it’s going to be about how I found my wife and how I gained her trust. She was a Christian with an INTJ personality as well. inmemoryofmylove.wordpress.com

I hope you follow along because it would mean a lot since I just started! Do you have any ideas as to how to get more followers?

You seem like a very nice person and I can tell you one thing that I’ve learned about our personality, we need someone to be very close and personal to us that we can love! Hope and pray you find the right guy!

    • Hi Jared! Thanks so much for stopping by and for the kind words. I’m always excited to meet another INTJ Christian! Please have a look around and comment as much as you like. I imagine someone with your background will have some unique and insightful thoughts to share.

I’ll definitely have a look at your blog. I still only have about 130 followers, but I think the biggest jumps for me happened when: a) I committed to posting daily, b) I liked/commented on a lot of other people’s blogs, and c) I got nominated for the Liebster award. Good news for an INTJ: two of these three things are within your control! πŸ˜‰ Happy blogging!

      • Thank you for that advice! I noticed that you do post quite often, which has to make followers feel good since you seem like a very good blogger/writer. My friend who blogs told me that it seemed like the very best bloggers don’t seem to post that often, which makes him sad. However, he did say that your blog is one of the few exceptions. He follows your blog. He’s the “Stevetheman18” guy who is throwing the football. I’ve noticed that he’s commented on many of your posts. It’s actually quite amazing to see people with this personality coming together and discusses not only their problems but solutions. He in fact encouraged me to blog because writing about his problems has helped him to “ease his anger and pain.”

Congratulations on being nominated for the Liebster Award!

      • I love CS Lewis. I also like Frederick Buechner a lot. If you’ve never read him … here’s a few examples …

It is as impossible for man to demonstrate the existence of God as it would be for even Sherlock Holmes to demonstrate the existence of Arthur Conan Doyle.

        ————————————–

β€œThere is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief…and unspeakable love.”

        ———————————-

β€œOne summer day I lay upon the grass. I’d sinned, no matter how, and in sin’s wake there came a kind of drowsy peace so deep I hadn’t even will enough to loathe myself. I had no mind to pray. I scarcely had a mind at all, just eyes to see the greenwood overhead, just flesh to feel the sun.

A light breeze blew from Wear [a river] that tossed the trees, and as I lay there watching them, they formed a face of shadows and of leaves. It was a man’s green, leafy face. He gazed at me from high above. And as the branches nodded in the air, he opened up his mouth to speak. No sound came from his lips, but by their shape I knew it was my name.

His was the holiest face I ever saw. My very name turned holy on his tongue. If he had bade me rise and follow him to the end of time, I would have gone. If he had bade me die for him, I would have died. When I deserved it least, God gave me most. I think it was the Savior’s face itself I saw.”

    • Hey Ally! Thanks for reaching out! You’re right; it has been a CRAZY BUSY year between quitting my corporate job, moving, being a first year teacher, getting engaged, planning a wedding, and getting married 4 months later! But life is SO GOOD! I’m hoping to return to the blogging world over the summer when I am on summer break and catch everybody up on not only my first year teacher stories but also on married life!!! How have you been?!
